Six Practical Tips for Waking Up Earlier

Good Morning!

Research has shown that waking up early is associated with efficiency, focus, and even happiness. Many of the world's highest performers recommend waking up early as a path to productivity and success. In light of these facts, it's no surprise that many people would like to arise earlier in the day. Making such a switch is difficult and requires self-discipline and a good plan.

Here are six tips to help you get out of bed earlier.

1. Go to bed early.

Rising at an early hour is pointless and even destructive if you haven't had enough sleep. Figure out how many hours you need every night, and go to sleep at the appropriate time. If you are still working on changing your habits, you might have trouble going to sleep at the right hour. Don't use this as an excuse to stay up.

2. Keep your alarm clock far away from your bed.

You will find it much easier to resist the temptation to go back to If it's within reach of your hand, you'll probably just hit the snooze button. If the alarm is farther away you will be awake enough to stay up by the time it's been turned off - physically climbing out of bed is half the battle. You should also set the volume of your alarm clock high, as it will do even more to promote wakefulness.

3. Make the change slowly.

It will be easier, both mentally and physically, if you adjust to a new schedule at a gradual pace. Rather than making one dramatic change, start by getting up ten to twenty minutes earlier. Once you've done that for a few days, move back by another ten to twenty minutes. A one-time shift might seem like a great idea, but it won't form a new pattern. You will probably fall quickly back into your old ways. A gradual change is more likely to be permanent.

4.Take advantage of your natural circadian rhythm.

Before the advent of modem technology, humans naturally woke up early with the sun, and went to sleep when it got dark. The sun's light promotes alertness and wakefulness, so spend at least a few minutes exposing yourself to natural light early in the day. Avoid bright screens at night - since these devices imitate the sun's light, they disrupt your natural circadian pattern and keep you awake later.

5. Keep to the same schedule every day.

Even if you want to get up early for workdays, you might be tempted to sleep in on the weekend. Avoid this pitfall - you will have a much day. Staying up late and arising late on weekends and holidays will only make forming a regular early routine more difficult.

6. Have something to get up for.

It's hard to climb out of bed if you don't have an activity specifically planned for the early morning. Have some plans for doing morning exercises or have yourself subscription to go  to nearby gym in Dubai. Have a look at this article where we talk about motivating yourself to work out.
